A new theory on how Severus deceived Voldemort

Ok, I was just busy doing work today when this theory popped into my head. No, I don't have "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" here with me right now. It occurred to me out of nowhere and I'm sharing it with you.

Here goes: I have new theory why Voldemort failed to find out Severus' true allegiance. Severus was doing things out of love (awww! so sweet!) for Lily. Since love isn't in Voldy's realm of experience, he doesn't recognize love. Severus was protected by his love for Lily, in the same way Harry was protected by Lily's love and sacrifice. Voldy cannot see and feel what he doesn't know. I assume he doesn't know because he hasn't felt it (how truly twisted is that?).

Essentially, it's like people and how they view things in life. You look at things, people, situations and events based on your past experiences. Unless you're truly blessed with empathy, it's difficult to put yourself in the other person's shoes. We all try, of course, but how many times have we heard other people say, "you just DON'T understand!"
