Let's pause for something else

With this week's drama and last week's tension, it's a relief that my Saturday was simple and straightforward.

I woke up at 10am. Contemplated having breakfast at Jacqueline's, but never did. We ended up eating past 1pm because someone lost track of time while chatting with big bro. We were supposed to go to MGM Grand at Foxwoods with my family (yeah, including our patient!), but decided not to go. Casinoes do entail cash. I didn't feel like spending, so I called my sisters to let them know my change of heart. Surprise, surprise! It was rescheduled for next week.

My husband and I drove around to check out our little city, and even discovered a Brazilian bakeshop. Ate half of a yucca cake and half of a "sonho" (the word supposedly means dream) - a sweet bread with caramel filling topped with sugar and yes, it's as sweet as it sounds - while downing freshly squeezed orange juice. We also checked out a nearby Peruvian restaurant, but it was too early for dinner. A heavy downpour made us stay in. We tried the recipe for steamed salmon with ginger, scallions, sesame oil, rice wine, soy sauce and salt. Steamed for 15 minutes and voilĂ ! Dinner at home!

After saying my posts haven't been angry or angsty in "Thank goodness for Vanilla & Caramel!", fate went on to give me something to be angsty about. True, my focus should remain on my sister, but somehow, the incident has a way of sneaking up on me and making me feel sick to my stomach.

Regardless, I'm thankful for today's normalcy. Let it remain that way for all of us.
