Oath taking took place today. In less than five minutes, I became an American. Just like that.

I didn't opt for dual citizenship. I know, I know, I could've. But I didn't. I also could've legally changed my name (Lindsey? Britney? Miley? Call me Chutney!), but I didn't.

People take their citizenship for granted. However, when you have to jump through hoops, as they say, you learn to value it more. Somehow.

I want to volunteer during election polls. I can't wait to do jury duty. I even told my husband that I can now work for the government! Not that I want to, but simply because I can. I can't wait to vote! Too bad I missed the last election.

By the way, we had lunch at Barcelona in Fairfield, CT for their tapas (caldo gallego, chorizo with sweet and sour figs, herbed goat cheese and wild mushrooms, gambas al ajillo & mussels al diablo). Yummy!
