After 2 weeks of silence

I can't believe that I've been absent from this blog for two weeks now. Hmmm...time went by just like that. *snaps fingers* So what's been happening in my Vanilla and Caramel world?

We went to Toronto for 4th of July long weekend because somebody (yeah, guess who?) wanted lanzones (that's Lansium domesticum according to Wikipedia). 'Twas a long weekend, so the drive was looooooong. Like 12 hours each way. My husband drove on our way there. I pitched in my driving skills on the way back. I also fell in love with deep fried soft shell crabs at Pho Hung. What can I say? I love food.

At least 3 persons told us that we should move to Toronto. Strangers we don't even know (but not creepy) chatted with us and promoted Canada. Hey Canada, are you offering some incentive to your residents to promote your country? :D Anyway, Toronto's nice, clean and green. It wouldn't be a bad place to live in, really. Just that we started our business lately. Let's give that a chance before doing something else. I wonder if we can move our business to Canada...

Ok, we were supposed to view Niagara Falls from the Canadian side. We've seen it from the US side, but people keep saying the view from the Canadian side is waaay better. So we wanted to find out for ourselves? Did we? Sadly, no. Quite a crowd was gathering for the 4th of July fireworks. Parking lots were full. We had nowhere else to go, but cross the border back to the US. We did eat Korean food before leaving Canada. Here's a funny (?!?) tale when we passed by customs. After my husband handed over our US passports to the customs guy, we still got asked what our citizenship was. I nearly blurted out, "how could we have US passports if we weren't US citizens?" There you go folks, one of the things I miss about the Philippines is that no one asks "what's your citizenship?", or "where are you from?", or...hmmm...I see the makings of another blog post. :D Let's save those thoughts for another time.

What else has been happening? Hubby and I have been busy with the business. We love Google and its promoting powers. Yay, Google! We'd like to get more clients, weekend warriors that we are. Even better, we don't offer prices that will cost an arm, a leg and your firstborn. So friends, any help to promote our business will be mucho appreciated. Those who already did their fair share, much thanks and hugs go out to you. You will be blessed.

Oh, and I got a new laptop (thanks to Costco's limited-time offer). I am now an owner of a spanking-new Toshiba Satellite L305-S5946. I admit, I wanted a Dell, but a deal's a deal so why not? My laptop's even got a twin. We bought two - one for me, one for my sister Lani. Her laptop awaits in our home. After the anguish I mentioned here, I'm not going to let other people come near my laptop even with a 10-foot pole. You shall not pass!!!

Before I end this post, I'd like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to our friend Jay. He and his honey Chei got hitched lately. Post pictures, Jay! We'd like to see them. I'm sure you guys made a lovely couple on your wedding day. Next thing you know, people will be asking when you'll have kids...ha ha.

So that's all for now. I'll try to blog more often. In the meantime, enjoy your day!

Was wondering where you had been off to.

Didn't know one could just choose to move to Canada, I was under the impression they only accepted folks that had been offered a job there.

Meikah, yeah, if money was no object, there are so many places to see. Too bad I didn't get to see a lot of places there in the Philippines.

Paige, they DID mention that there were a lot of job opportunities in Canada. So maybe that's why they kept promoting it. Who knows?
