Done with the pictures

Today, I finished uploading all the photos taken when we went to the Philippines. The 14-day trip yielded almost 800 photos. It took a lot of weeding out, but that's it. I'm not removing anything more.

I'm also torn between ordering prints and buying photo albums, or simply ordering one photo book with everything in it. I'm inclined to go with the latter, simply because the former seems labor-intensive. But will it be more cost-effective? I don't know.

I admit, I wasn't sure if I wanted to finish wading through the many photos. It felt like once I'm finished with it, then I have no choice but to face the reality that it's over and done with. Put the past behind. It's time to move on.

Then I realized that it doesn't really have to be that dramatic. I need to finish them before more photos arrive. Which is inevitable since I take photos for a living. It's common sense that I tackle them now, so I won't get overwhelmed with pictures. That's all there is to it. I don't need to put them aside. I don't need to forget about them. I can always go back to them anytime.

So I did. Now I find myself going back to each album, and running the slide-shows for each album. That's the reason why I love photographs in the first place. It allows me to go back and remember.
