I booked a flight to Manila, leaving two days after my birthday. Originally, I planned to celebrate my birthday there, but I changed my mind. Luckily, I found an airfare that wasn't $1,600+. Plus, I get to fly Korean Air for the first time! Excited!!! I've flown Northwest (back in the day), Cathay Pacific, United, Delta, and Asiana before. Korean Air was always too pricey.
I'll be on vacation for almost a month. I'm planning to go to Malaysia. Possibly Thailand. The latter, I haven't decided on yet. I'm also adding Vigan, Ilocos Sur to my list.
What's in Malaysia, you may ask. Good question. I've read that it's the next foodie destination. Or maybe it already is. Suffice it to say, that's enough to entice me there. I'd go far and wide for food. : )
I haven't traveled solo in ages. Last time was back in 1998, but it wasn't even towards an unknown destination. I was heading to the Philippines to put my affairs in order (OK, OK, I just wanted to use the word "affairs". I went home to get more clothes) before starting a new job in the U.S.
That's why I'm excited about this upcoming trip. Me in a new country!
After more than a year working in a job that required me to acquiesce to everyone else's requests, desires and wishes but not my own, now it's frickin' ME time. It's all about me, myself and I. Time to do some sightseeing and much-needed soul-searching. Really, another back problem, another health issue to end a job? What the hell am I doing wrong?
I've been frustrated that despite having regular jobs, we don't get to travel as often as I'd like. We do go on vacations once or twice a year, plus the every-now-and-then weekend getaways, but that's way less than what I'd like. To stop feeling frustrated, I'll see what I can with the time and money I have. I'm more than willing to go the DIY route.
Yes folks, it's MY vacation. I'll spend time with people who I want to spend time with. No one can tell me to meet up with this and that person "just because". Right now, I've had enough of others telling me what I should and shouldn't do. Honestly, leave me alone to do my thing.
I can't wait to spend time with me.
