Think Predatory?

A friend of mine had an interesting observation about me. We've known each other since we were teens, and somehow, she said that I still managed to stay nice and trusting as she remembered me to be. I told her that I refuse to get changed by other people. Kung magbabago ako, diskarte ko.

"You've got to learn to think predatory. Dumihan mo ang isip mo minsan-minsan. Hindi lahat ng tao malinis ang intensiyon o konsensiya. Dahil dito sa bansa'ng ito, mas marami pa rin ang marumi isip."

Then discussion ensued.

By the end of it, she didn't manage to convince me nor did I convince her. Which is fine with me. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions, right?

What she told me made me think, of course. Would it make a positive difference in my life if I adopt such a mindset? I don't think so. Plus I don't really go by blind faith. It's more along the lines of, "well, if you're making a fool of me, it's more on your conscience than mine. How am I supposed to know you're fooling me? How you deal with the trust I give you is your responsibility, not mine."
